Two ICC One-Day International fixtures involving Bangladesh are to take place in Scotland later this summer, Cricket Scotland has announced. The Scotland team will play the Bangladesh team in one ODI, whilst acting as the neutral host for an ODI between Bangladesh and the Netherlands the following day.

Both games will take place at Titwood, Glasgow, on Monday July 19 and Tuesday July 20, following Bangladesh’s tour of England. Prior to the games in Scotland, Bangladesh will be in Ireland, where they will play two ODIs against the hosts on Thursday and Friday, 15 and 16 July.

Roddy Smith, Cricket Scotland's chief executive, sees the games as an important benchmark for the national side: “This is an exciting opportunity to play another ICC Full Member in Scotland, following on from the visit of England on Saturday June 19. These games are always a major test for our players and they will be relishing the opportunity to play Bangladesh on home soil."

ICC Europe Regional Development Manager Richard Holdsworth also welcomed the fixtures: “Bangladesh agreeing to play Ireland, Scotland and the Netherlands in One-Day Internationals this summer is a great news for Europe and these countries. Now that all three high-performance countries have a number of professional contracted players, it is a hugely important they have regular competition with the full member countries.

“ICC High Performance Manager Richard Done has worked hard with the Bangladesh Cricket Board and the three high-performance countries to get these fixtures agreed, and we are thankful to the Bangladesh cricket team for supporting the three European ODI countries on the back of their tour to England this summer.

"To have such full members playing in our countries is great for the promotion of the game, and gives spectators and supporters another opportunity to watch top-level cricket in their countries.”

Bangladesh has played three internationals in Scotland previously: the World Cup fixture against Scotland in 1999 and two games in September 2004, when Scotland (pictured below) won the second of these by four wickets following half-centuries by Ryan Watson and Fraser Watts and 49 not out by Cedric English.

Ticket details will be announced in due course. The fixtures in full are as follows:

  • Thursday July 15 – Ireland v Bangladesh (Belfast)
  • Friday July 16 – Ireland v Bangladesh (Belfast)
  • Monday July 19 – Scotland v Bangladesh (Glasgow)
  • Tuesday July 20 – Netherlands v Bangladesh (Glasgow)
