Lions v Cavaliers at Uddingston in CB40 Warm Up Matches

Cricket Scotland is anticipating naming a strong Scotland Lions side, which will effectively be a shadow Saltires XI, to play two forty over warm up matches against a Cricket Scotland Cavaliers’ select.

The matches will take place next Tuesday (9 August) and Thursday (11 August) at Uddingston’s Bothwell Castle Policies, starting at 11am. The additional fixtures have been scheduled in preparation for the forthcoming CB40 matches at Aberdeen next weekend..

Announcing the fixture Cricket Scotland’s Head of Performance Andy Tennant stated, “These games are useful additions to our programme as it will give opportunities for most of the players who will be involved in the CB40 matches next weekend to get some 40 over cricket.. It will also give us the opportunity to run the rule over a good number of players who are pushing for national selection in future.

On the nature of the match he added “The Cavaliers concept is not a new one for us and has worked well in the past. Bringing together the right blend of aspiring Scottish internationals and overseas players is an excellent way of developing our own pipeline of Scottish talent while utilising the skills of the overseas players currently plying their trade here.”
