Cricket Scotland Community Development

Steve Paige, National Development Manager - Community Cricket

“Supporting Junior Clubs”

Welcome to the new pages dedicated to Community Cricket Development. It is the role of the Community Development Team to support the development of junior sections in Cricket Clubs and we will do this by:

  • Delivering the TOPClub Junior Development programme to support the strategic development of activity throughout Scotland's clubs.
  • Working with Scotland's Local Authorities to put in place strategic alliances which will ensure that cricket development is well co-ordinated.
  • Delivering training opportunities to support the growth of a new nationally recognised Introductory programme (Have a Go).
  • Supporting the vital volunteer network through the provision of Coach Education and Development opportunities.
  • Encouraging the implementation of long term player development principles to maximise the development of players
  • Increasing the number of girls involved in cricket
  • Enhancing school programmes where possible
  • Providing support to the Area Development Group network.
  • Working with clubs and local leagues to increase playing opportunities for age group players
  • Improving provision of cricket for young players with a disability.

Or to put it simply we're here to increase and develop the quality and quantity of community cricket played throughout the Country.

We cannot do this alone and work in partnership with many organisations to achieve these goals, including Local Authority Sports Development Teams, the Active Schools Networks, the much valued cricket development groups and associations across the Country as well as the Clubs and the vital network of volunteers.

The community development section of the Cricket Scotland website will be evolving over the next few months and we hope that it will become a valuable resource in the ongoing development of the game.

The Community Development team can assist and advise on how to develop cricket in your area and they are your first point of contact for your enquiries. Their contact details are listed below for you:
