Recent retirees are six of the best Scottish cricketers

Six recently-retired Scotland international cricketers were brought together in Edinburgh at the end of last week for a collective tribute to their careers by Cricket Scotland. Pictured above, from left to right, Gavin Hamilton, Paul Hoffmann, Craig Wright, Dougie Lockhart, Dougie Brown and Colin Smith, each received a framed photograph of themselves from Cricket Scotland chairman Keith Oliver, while fellow internationalist Fraser Watts delivered a player's entertaining view of each individual's distinguished career.

 

The occasion, which was held at the Caledonian Breweries premises on Friday, also saw quaichs awarded to the international players of the year in 2010, as follows:

 

  • Batsman of the Year:  Richie Berrington, scorer of more than 1,000 international runs at an average of 28.
  • Bowler of the Year: Matthew Parker, taker of 39 international wickets at an average of 25.
  • All-Rounder of the Year: Richie Berrington, and taker of 37 international wickets at an average of 25.
  • Player's Player of the Year: Neil McCallum, scorer of 680 internationals runs in 201, including a magnificent battling 104 in the first innings of the Interncontinental Cup final against Afghanistan in Dubai in December.
