Cricket Scotland today launched a new national U18s Club Cup competition. The 20-over competition will follow the formats of the U13s and U15s Cups, through a regional competition leading to a national finals day.
The competition will start in mid-June after the end of the school examination period, leading to finals day at the end of August.
In launching the competition, Cricket Scotland’s head of community development Steve Paige said: “This new competition is vital in continuing to develop the junior pathway and keeping young people involved in club cricket.
"We have identified that many young people leave the sport due to the reduced opportunities for them once they get to age 16. Hopefully, this competition will go someway to addressing that issue.”
Closing date for entries is 12 pm 12 March 2010. The first round draw will be made by Steve Paige and administrator Stewart Oliver at 'high noon' on the 12 March.
