As the season comes to a close there have been a few changes in personnel at Cricket Scotland with Stewart Oliver and Mike Stanger departing for pastures new, whilst there has been an addition of two Development Officers- Tim Hart and Ian Shaw
Stewart Oliver

Stewart Oliver, who has been the Cricket Administration Manager for Cricket Scotland over the past 10 seasons, retired from that position on 31 August. Stewart, over that time, worked tirelessly on behalf of Cricket Scotland to ensure that the administration of the various league and cup competitions under his jurisdiction ran as smoothly as possible.
Dealing with numerous agencies, and allegiances, meant that his powers of diplomacy, fairness and firmness had to be at their optimum levels at all times and anyone, or any club, who came in contact with Stewart over these 10 seasons would agree that that was indeed the case.
Watsonian Club President, Ross Brooks said “I am sure I speak on behalf of all clubs in the SNCL when I say what an impressive and professional job Stewart Oliver has done for Scottish Cricket over the years. Stewart has been involved during a time that has seen massive change in how the game is managed in Scotland and has been one of the silent driving forces behind bringing a professional and organised approach.”
Allison Elliot, secretary of Arbroath CC added “we would like to wish Stewart a very happy retirement. I am sure he will be sorely missed by everyone at Cricket Scotland. We always found Stewart very professional, very helpful and very quick to reply to any query that we had no matter how small”.
Stewart will not be totally lost to Cricket Scotland as he will be still be actively involved in the financial/accounting side of the organisation.
A replacement will shortly be appointed to take over the cricket administration aspects of Stewart’s post. In the meantime any club related queries should be addressed to Euan McIntyre euanmcintyre@cricketscotland.com.
However, if there are matters for this season still ongoing and which Stewart has been dealing with then these should be addressed to Stewart in the interim.
Mike Stanger
Also moving on is Mike Stanger, the ever dedicated, long standing servant of Scottish cricket who steps down as Website Editor to concentrate solely on developing CSTV, as well as setting up the streaming sports channel Quipu TV. Mr Stanger has been inspirational in the development of the Cricket Scotland website since its creation in 2004.
He has been the architect of Cricket Scotland TV, along with CSTV Live.
Since its launch in December 2010, the CSTV Live channel has proved a worthy companion to Cricket Scotland TV channel on Youtube. Many fans were able to enjoy the live coverage of the Intercontinental Cup match and July’s Tri-series, as the channel has experienced a whopping 2,316,000 accumulated viewer-minutes to date.
Chief Executive Officer Roddy Smith said “Mike’s energy and commitment to developing our website in recent years has been fantastic and I would like to thank him for all his work. The time is now right to bring the website in house. We are delighted that Mike will continue to develop CSTV and the online streaming service. I am sure this will continue to progress and be an integral part of Cricket Scotland’s service to the cricketing community”.
Ben Fox, who joined Cricket Scotland in 2007 as an Administrator takes a more focussed role in developing Cricket Scotland’s media and communication strategies. Ben is still responsible for coordinating ICC Player registrations, Coach Education and Cricket Media Indoor Sixes but succeeds Mike Stanger as the primary editor for the website.
