Scotland Under 15 v Herefordshire Under 15

This match commenced three and a half hours late and reduced to 30 overs a side due to rain.

Scotland were inserted on a green top and struggled manfully against openers Harwood and Treloar who extracted big movement in the helpful conditions.

A determined and enterprising stand of 55 for the second wicket between Will Edwards and Andrew Umeed (16) set the Scots on their way. They rotated the strike well and Will was unlucky to be out one short of a deserved half century.

Impetus was given later in the innings by Lyle Hill who carried his bat for 34 and Chris Cash (17), the home side closing on 164 for 7. For Herefordshire J Blanchard took 3 for 32 and W Treloar 2 for 25.

The visitors never got to grips with the difficult batting conditions and had it not been for the profligate bowling of wides by the home side they would not have reached three figures.

Only J Mokler with 24 put up any resistance with Lyle Hill taking 3 for 7 and Adi Mehta 3 for 11.

The away boys were all out for 103 in 26 overs.

On winning the toss Scotland elected to bat on a good pitch at Stirling.

The majority of the innings was anchored by a well compiled 128 not out from Michael English. Starting watchfully he accelerated steadily and towards the fiftieth over he scored very fluently, his runs coming from 118 balls.

Michael was well supported by opener Kyle MacPherson (34), Omar Afridi (29), Chris Cash & Adi Mehta.

For the visitors Paul Harris took 2 for 42. The home side closed on 284 for 7.

In reply a steady opening stand of 49 set Northants on there way but 3 wickets in 2 overs put the home side in control.

Ryan Nandha battled hard to wrest the game back with a spirited 54 from 83 balls but the target proved too much for the visitors who batted through to finish on 209 for 8.

Pick of the Scot’s bowling were Nicky Sim (2 for 11) and Adi Mehta (2 for 32).
