Indoor Media Report – Week 2
Week 2 of the Cricket Media 6’s saw Heriot’s, Watsonians and the East Academy play their first round of games. In what was expected to be an extremely tight group with the rivalry between the two Edinburgh clubs and the talented and relatively unknown youngsters thrown into the mix, it proved to be so.
Watsonians played the East Academy in the first match of the evening, in what turned out to be an enthralling contest for those watching from the gantry. Watsonians batted first and posted a competitive score of 114/5 off their 10 overs with Euan Stubbs top scoring with 29 with P Baker finishing with figures of 2/21. This was not to be Baker’s last contribution of the match as he and Kyle Smith batted well for the East and with 1 ball remaining required 4 to tie the match, unfortunately for the youngsters they could only manage 2 off the final ball which saw a 2-run Watsonians win.
The next fixture was between Heriot’s and the East Academy and the youngsters batted first and started well with 47 runs coming off the first 3 overs. Unfortunately, the loss of regular wickets meant that they were all out for 90 with still three and a half overs remaining with R Bhopal stranded on 37*. Heriot’s were confident of chasing the score down and did so with ease for the loss of 2 wickets with C Goddard and G McIntyre finishing not out.
The arch rivals met in the final encounter of the evening with Heriot’s winning the toss and asking Watsonians to bat. ‘Sonians built a solid innings with four of their batsmen making individual scores over 25 and set Heriots 157 to win. In reply Heriot’s were bowled out in 8 overs with only Gavin McIntyre making any real score and fell 74 runs short.

The fixtures the 22nd January will see last year’s semi finalists Carlton take on Penicuik and Fauldhouse .
